Rain rain go the HELL away!
Famalam,How y'all is? Hope this finds you well. Drive slowly and pay attention to the traffic if you are in Philly, Jersey, or NYC right now...it's raining cats and dogs out here in Philly. I'm about to bounce to NYC for Little Ricky's tonight, and I hear it's a mess up there too. I thought it was supposed to be April showers? Anyway...
One love to any and all who came out to party with us last week. APT was on fire last Wednesday night, especially toward the end of the night. I don't think I've seen so many dancers still getting' it poppin' at 4am in there! Whoa...thank y'all as usual for that call and response....gonzolicious...
This past Friday night at Fluid, my partner Dennis Perez and I were blessed with the opportunity to have Mr Kevin Hedge as our guest at Afrorikan Vybe. It was raining cars Friday night until about 11, but our peoples braved the rain and came through lovely. Kevin played a beautiful set of house classics and exclusive treats too. As if that weren't enough, Stephanie Cooke came down and blessed us with 3 or 4 of her classics as well before turning the sound back over to Kevin to rock the night out the rest of the way. Thank you Kevin for your beautiful spirit, your humility, and your love for the music. It was a supreme pleasure to have you with us, and we eagerly anticipate the next time we can get together bro. Much love to you, Lynn, Stephanie and the West End crew!
This past Saturday the rain in NYC forced Chris Annibel to postpone our night together at 718 Diner unfortunately. We figured it best to postpone since the venue is indoor/outdoor, and we want to do it right for y'all. So, stay tuned to richmedina.com and afroinetic.com for more info on our next time spinning together.
Sunday night, Leaving This Planet was fucking incredible. Eddie Palmeri's son and family were in the place! Holy doo doo Batman! What an honor it was to meet them. Aside from that, our true dance heads came through in full force and showed 'em how to enjoy a dance floor too. Bob, I don't remember what that latin 7inch was that you played around 1 am, but when I find out I'm gonnahelp it out of your bag and into mine! That shit was crazy! Thanks again to everyone who made it out. We had a record for attendance at the new venue, The Vault at Element, and thanks to you we have begun to cement our presence in the mind of the owners. Together, we can do anything people...remember that. Much love to Peggy for holding us down as usual up front and greeting everyone with love so they can come into the space feeling right.
Little Ricky's is on and popping as usual tonight, from 10pm to 4am at APT, 419 w 13th st ( b/w 9th & Washington) in NYC. Vassy K's live vocal performance is postponed until June 14th, and Pete Rock and DJ Scratch are still on deck, despite our having to postpone their dates until July. More info to come, but we will be in the house par usuale tonight kiddies...
This Friday I will be spinning an event for Akademics in BK at 718 Diner. Check their website for more info.
This Saturday afternoon, I will be spinning a 2 hour set at the BBOY BBQ in Philly. And that same night...
