Theodore Dwight Weld & The Anti-Slavery Society. Written by Owen G. Mulder. Theodore Dwight Weld was one of the foremost American abolitionist champions between roughly 1830 and 1845. Author of the abolitionist book “American Slavery As It Is: Testimony of a Thousand Witnesses”, (published 1839). Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” is documented as drawing it’s inspiration from Weld’s book. In 1865, The 13th Amendment To The United States Constitution effectively ended slavery, even if as a side effect to the real goals of “The Amendment”, eventually relieving Weld and his contemporaries of their jobs as active abolitionists. #BlackHistoryMonth247365
